Verbena Design and Landscaping derives its name from a group of
flowering perennials that are native to Minnesota's prairies. In
addition to their striking violet blooms, native Verbena species
also offer a number of environmental benefits. This combination

Carolin Dittmann is an award winning landscape designer and owner of Verbena Design and
Landscaping. She has been creating outdoor living environments in the twin cities for 12 years.
Over the course of her education as a landscape designer and horticulturist, she has developed a
philosophy that balances creativity with scientific and technical expertise. Carolin refers to
gardens as "living sculptures". She is inspired by nature and also aware of the vital role that
natural resources play in the well-being and sustainability of people and our planet. Her goal is
to work with you to create a healthy, and well-crafted landscape that you can feel good about.
Carolin has studied landscape design from a number of angles, including horticulture, ecology and
landscape architecture. She has learned in equal measure from her experience in the field. She
has worked in a variety of settings that combine her skill in design and her love of getting her
hands dirty. After completing her Masters of Agriculture in Horticulture degree at the University
of Minnesota, she founded Verbena Design and Landscaping to build ecologically sensitive garden
spaces that provide a natural oasis that urban dwellers can appreciate.
